Accounts and services
Each service the household pays for, whose name it is in and when it starts, and the list of everyone who needs your new address. Seeded from your setup; everything you type stays in this browser.
Essential on a first pass: the services sheet, so every service that is not in the rent has a start date before the key day, and the USPS and voter rows of the change-of-address list. The other address rows can wait for the first month. Utilities and accounts explains each step.
Services
One row per service that is not included in the rent or fee (Utilities and accounts). Never type an account number or a password here; a password manager holds those.
Change of address
Who needs the new address (Utilities and accounts). The USPS change of address only changes it with the Post Office; every other sender has to be told. Write the date each was done.
How to use this sheet
- One row per service. Electricity, gas, water and sewer, trash, internet, phone, and insurance if you have a policy. A service in the rent gets no row.
- Whose name. The person the provider bills. In a shared home this is the line that matters when someone moves out.
- No numbers or passwords. Never type an account number, a password or a PIN here; a password manager holds those (Learn Digital Security covers it).
- Status. Confirmed when the provider has given a start date in writing; provisional when it is booked but not confirmed; unresolved when you have not reached them.
The example rows are Dani's (fictional): electricity in Dani's name from the key day, paid by autopay and confirmed; internet booked for an installation on November 5 at a $50 fee, provisional until the technician comes. Water, heat and trash are in Dani's rent, so they have no rows.
The sheet does not say which provider to choose, whether a deposit or credit check is allowed, or whether to buy insurance. Help programs (LIHEAP, Lifeline) decide their own eligibility. Voter registration rules and deadlines vary by state; vote.gov is the source.
