Routines
The household's tasks with a frequency, a day and an owner, each marked with its source or as convention, and the weekly reset. Seeded from your setup; everything you type stays in this browser.
Essential on a first pass: the routine sheet, trimmed to what applies, with a day for each task, and one week of the weekly reset. The yearly rows can sit on the sheet until the 90-day review. Weekly routines explains the frequencies.
Routine
One row per task (Weekly routines). The source column says whether an agency gives the frequency or it is this manual's convention; a convention is yours to change.
Weekly reset
One block, the same day each week (Weekly routines). Uncheck the list at the start of each week, or print a copy for the fridge.
How to use this sheet
- One row per task. A task with a frequency and a day: "bathroom, weekly, Saturday".
- Source or convention. Seeded rows say whether an agency gives the frequency (FSIS for the fridge, USFA and NFPA for alarms) or it is this manual's convention. A convention is yours to change; a sourced frequency changes only if your manual or label says so.
- Minutes. Write how long the task takes you. The chore time calculator adds them up for a shared home.
- Notes. For a cleaning product, the label's contact time and any do-not-mix warning (Cleaning safely).
The example row is Dani's (fictional) weekly reset: Sunday, about an hour, after laundry in the basement. It is labelled convention because no agency sets a weekly reset.
The sourced frequencies are the agencies' wording; the rest are this manual's convention, and the household sets them. Population averages for time spent on housework (ATUS) are context, not a target. This manual makes no claim that a routine becomes a habit by any date.
